Helping a high-profile site function seamlessly with Drupal
Le Figaro is the number one place for Stock Market News and Investing Tips in France. When they needed a competent team to solve complex Drupal problems, they chose Code Enigma. We built their website, which was their second major Drupal project. As such, the site is Le Figaro’s online stock market presence.
What we did
We collaborated with an in-house Drupal team and an external contractor. Initially, the feedback from Le Figaro was extremely positive. Further, we continued to assist with ongoing development for over two years. After which, we dropped into a support role.
The project demonstrates how a remote team can work effectively on high-pressure projects. One where the requirement is for near-instantaneous updating of content and data. Understandably, not even temporary outages are acceptable.
A site with as much data content as that is an ongoing exercise. Respectively, one that needs continual work and development of new features. However, the site now supports logins so visitors can customise information and notifications. We implemented a paywall. Additionally, we also trained the in-house team so they can take increasing control.
Working intensively then gradually withdrawing into a support role is common for us.
We start with an initial very concentrated phase of development by a large team. Then we follow up with code sprints by one or two developers. In this case, the initial site was created and went live in under sixteen weeks. The newspaper's finance section was ecstatic to have done in four months. Some rivals could not have achieved that in three years.
