Helping research bodies share vital information, smoothly

Introduction

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical research centre in London.

They're in a partnership between (and two of whom we also work with)

They needed a safe, secure and supported home for their intranet. Essentially, a tool vital for helping coordinate their life-saving medical research.

Coordinating complex scientific research and institutions requires flexible connections and knowledge sharing. So that's why the Francis Crick Institute chose Drupal. Also, they needed a place to securely host it. And we were there with AWS waiting.

What we did

Our rigorous approach to security and management means they can relax. They know their software is carefully managed. Furthermore, it's patched, and backed by an ISO 27001 certified security management framework. With us, backups are organised. Also, they're tested and configuration is version controlled. Finally, communication channels are open for questions.

Additionally, their server hardware and network are fully managed by us and backed by AWS. This has a 99.95% uptime SLA and high availability, multi-zone options available.

Our support allows Francis Crick to focus on improving how Drupal helps them communicate. Our approach and flexibility means they can engage with our expert team when they need. This can be across a range of topics beyond Drupal.

The outcome

We helped Francis Crick streamline their development workflow. Subsequently, this was platformed on Github with additional tools. Such as our customisable Jenkins deployment scripts and automated testing.

We also worked with them on Docker instances. In short, this was for feature branches. This way, they can view new features in a dedicated environment and test on live audiences.
